When Scott Woodward was approached to join WealthMD in 2011, he had already been working in the financial services business for eight years. With dual majors in Finance and Risk Management from the University of Georgia, Scott had decided to pursue financial advising straight out of school, and set out to build his own practice.
The career appealed to his natural technical ability. “From childhood, I loved to take things apart to see how they worked. When I was two, my mom put me in the tub to play with some bath toys — I ignored my toys and took apart the drain!” he laughs. Financial planning turned out to be a good fit for Scott’s analytic style. “I love building a financial plan and using hard data to demonstrate why a certain course of action is the most appropriate choice for the given situation,” he says.
As a solo practitioner, Scott enjoyed the logical nature of his work, but missed the energy of being part of a team. In 2005, Scott first met Seth Cohn and Scott Varon, and years later re-connected with them when the opportunity arose to join the WealthMD team. Becoming a member of WealthMD allowed Scott to merge his background and experience as a financial advisor with the high-energy team environment he desired.
“At WealthMD our skill sets complement each other,” says Scott of his professional home. “I can have a huge impact here,” he adds. Scott’s strong technical skills and systems focus are an asset to WealthMD. While he continues to see clients, Scott’s expanded responsibilities at the firm include overseeing the financial planning function, as well as the long-term strategic work of fine-tuning systems and processes for the fast-growing practice.
Outside of work, Scott is active in his church and neighborhood community. Scott stays busy with his three children, but when he can find the time, he enjoys playing golf, running, spending time outdoors and watching college football.
Scott and his wife Holly reside in Brookhaven, GA.
